What this days to weeks converter does

This tool turns a number of days into weeks, or weeks into days, without you doing the division or multiplication by hand. Type a value and it returns the total three ways: as a decimal number of weeks, as whole weeks plus leftover days, and broken further into total hours and minutes. Everything updates as you type — there's no button to press.

It's built for the moments where "roughly a month" or "about three weeks" isn't precise enough — planning a trip, working out a due date for a project, or checking how a rental, notice period, or training block breaks down into whole weeks.

How to use it

Two fields' worth of work in one — just type and read.

  1. Enter a number of days.Whole numbers or decimals both work — try 10.5 for ten and a half days.
  2. Read the weeks total. The decimal weeks figure appears instantly, alongside a whole-weeks-and-leftover-days breakdown.
  3. Swap direction if you'd rather start from weeks.Tap Swap and the same field becomes a weeks input, converting to days instead.
  4. Copy, print, or download the result.Send it in a message, print it, or save it as a CSV row for your records.

How the conversion works

The conversion factor is fixed and simple: 1 week equals 7 days, always. To go from days to weeks, divide by 7. To go from weeks to days, multiply by 7. Everything else on this page — the leftover-days breakdown, the hours, the minutes — follows from that one number.

Worked example · 30 days to weeks
30 days ÷ 7 = 4.29 weeks
Whole weeks: 4, remainder = 30 − (4 × 7) = 2 leftover days
So 30 days = 4 weeks and 2 days
In hours: 30 × 24 = 720 hours · In minutes: 720 × 60 = 43,200 minutes

Converting weeks to days

Going the other way is the same factor in reverse. Multiply the number of weeks by 7: 2.5 weeks × 7 = 17.5 days. That's also why the leftover-days figure can show a decimal — a fractional number of weeks converts to a fractional number of days.

Why leftover days, not just a decimal?

A decimal like "4.29 weeks" is exact but hard to picture. Splitting it into 4 whole weeks and 2 days matches how people actually think and schedule — in full weeks plus a few extra days, the way a business days calculator or a leave request often gets read.

Need the reverse direction on its own page, or a different pair of units entirely? The weeks to days converter and the all-in-one time unit converter cover those.

Who uses it, and for what

  • Project & event planners turning a day count from a plan into a clean number of weeks for a schedule.
  • Students & researchers converting a study, internship, or course length between the two units.
  • HR & operations staff checking notice periods, probation lengths, or leave balances given in days against weekly policy.
  • Anyone quoting a duration — a rental term, a training block, a recovery window — who wants both units to hand.

If the span you're working from is a pair of actual dates rather than a day count, the business days calculator or time duration calculator will get you to a day count first.

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks are in a given number of days?

Divide the number of days by 7. For example, 30 days ÷ 7 = 4.29 weeks, or 4 whole weeks and 2 leftover days. This converter does that instantly and shows both forms.

How do I convert weeks back into days?

Multiply the number of weeks by 7, or tap the Swap button on this page to flip the converter into weeks-to-days mode without retyping anything.

Does this use calendar weeks or just a 7-day count?

It's a straight unit conversion — every 7 days equals 1 week, regardless of which day of the week you start counting from. It does not assume a Monday start or align to calendar week numbers.

Why does the leftover-days figure show a decimal sometimes?

That happens when your starting value already has a fraction, such as 2.5 weeks. Converted to days that's 17.5 days, so the leftover after 2 whole weeks is 3.5 days rather than a whole number.

Can I convert large spans, like a year, in days or weeks?

Yes. There's no upper limit — 365 days converts to 52.14 weeks (52 whole weeks and 1 leftover day), and the tool handles much larger numbers just as accurately.

What if I enter a negative number?

The converter shows a warning and withholds a result, since a negative span of days or weeks isn't meaningful here. Enter a positive value to see the conversion.

Is the converter free and private?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, and the conversion runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded or stored.

Accuracy & sources

Results come from standard time arithmetic: the value you enter is multiplied or divided by 7, exactly as shown in how the conversion works. There is no rounding shortcut or hidden adjustment, and every worked example on this page has been independently verified by hand.

The 7-day week used here matches the definition in ISO 8601, the international standard for representing dates and times, which defines the week as a continuous period of seven days. Written and reviewed by Fletcher Langley, and re-checked whenever the tool changes — last reviewed August 2026.
